Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Could I ask through the pages of Commercial Motor for families or friends of drivers and co-drivers who are held in prisons abroad, either sentenced or awaiting trial for alleged drug trafficking, to contact me?

I am currently compiling a dossier for my Member of Parliament who will put forward a motion in the House regarding the problems our drivers come up against while going about their daily work. Some of the problems which were raised at a meeting I had with my MP were: the drug problem; road fund taxes; and the inequality of the British driver against his neighbours in Europe. My main concern, however, is the plight of innocent men being held for many years in prisons that are not fit for human habitation.

We should do all we can to bring the problem to the attention of the Government on a regular basis until we are heard and a solution is forthcoming. We are the poor relations of Europe on this matter and we cannot let other counties treat our drivers this way any longer. Danneke I Neale, 7 Sinclair Court, Wykeham Street, Scarborough, Y012 7SA.
