Wood and Lambert have completed the delivery to W. J. Bush and Co., Ltd., Ash Grove, London, E.8, of a batch of seven Thames 5-tonners. One, a boxvan, is a. semi-forward-control model with a Perkins P6 engine, whilst the others are Traders. Three are boxvans with 6D engines whilst the others are platform lorries. Two of these have 4D engines and one a ED.

Counteracting Height Limit

A Bedford 5-ton 14-ft. 11-in.-wheelbase normal-control chassis was converted to full forward control by Alfred Miles, Ltd., Cheltenham, for the mounting of 1,300-cu.-ft. pantechnicon bodywork for Dennis, Ltd... Cheltenham, removers. The operators have a height restriction in their garage, and the conversion was made so that vehicle capacity not available in height could be gained in length.

It permitted the addition of 3 ft. to body length, or 160 cu. ft. in capacity. The main compartment is 20 ft. long, and the Luton head is 4 ft. 6 in. long. A smart cab with curved quarter lights was designed.

A boxvan sold by Lee Motor Works (Bournemouth), Ltd., Wimborne Road, Bournemouth, to the Wallis Tin Stamping Co., Ltd., Harnvvorthy, Poole, has a body with an interior length of 18 ft. 4 in, It is based on a Bedford 7-ton chassis with a wheelbase of 14 ft. The body was built by the suppliers and has a tailboard and roller shutter at the rear: Monmouthshire Highways Department, having run Bedford 5-tonners since 1951, have replaced them. with 12 64onners of the same make. They are normal-control models.

Northampton Caravans, Ltd., Kettering Road North, Northampton, having produced 10 roof. canopies in plastics for the bodywork of Bedford 10-12-cwt, vans used for the sale of Eldorado ice cream, have received an order for a further 40. The canopies were made of Crystic 196 resin supplied by Scott Bader and Co.,
