Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Minister of Transport has been

asked to confirm an Order made by Durham County Council on March 5, 1953, to ban the use of two unclassified roads in Easington by lorries collecting sea-coal from the foreshore. at Blackball.

It appears that 30-40 heavy goods vehicles use these roads for the collection of many tons of coat. Some of the men owning these vehicles are disabled and have invested their gratuities and savings in this activity, which will cease and inflict severe loss upon them if the roads in question are closed.

It has been suggested in sonic local papers that the council intends to take over the work of sea-coal haulage.

A public inquiry will he held on February 3 at the Easington Council offices. Only those persons will be heard at the inquiry who applied in writing by January 20 to the Ministry.
