A GENERAL transport debate in the Commons was long overdue, declared Dudley Smith (Tory, Warwick and Leamington) last week.
Everyone was worried about the incursion of heavy lorries and about the increasing number of accidents that took place in inclement weather on motorways, he said. There was also worry about the detailed planning of motorways.
