• Harrogate Borough Council has fitted a new Macl,ift MacTipper recycling body to a re-cycled 1985 Dennis 4x2 RN4 crew cab chassis. The council believes it has saved over £ 24,000 compared with buying a new vehicle. It estimates that to put a new short-wheelbase chassis into service would have cost more than £70,000.

The Dennis will be used in residential areas where access can be restricted. The MacLift body has two compartments with powered bulkheads and hydraulic wheelie bin lifters. Front-end tipping gear is used to discharge the load.

Renovation was carried out by council staff.
