1 heard this week of two lorry drivers who between them have 57 years' driving experience and cover a total of 60,000 miles each year. Nothing unusual in that, you say—but wait for it. They are women and they drive six-wheel Ford D1000 tippers. What is more, they work in a real man's world—the road :onstruction industry—with Tarmac Roadstone.
Ethel Johnson and Betty Gray work from the company's Stockton-on-Tees depot, where they are considered to be pretty good irivers. The funny thing is, I've not heard of them in any of the Lorry Driver of the Year ;:ompetitions. Come on. girls!
