A TASMANIAN concern of millers, Pl. Gibson's, Ltd., has been running a Commer RC model chain-driven 3-4tonner for 33 years. Mr. Gilbert Nichols, who is seen with the vehicle in the accompanying illustration, has been in charge of the company's fleet throughout that period. Every day the vehicle carries a full load of oatmeal or rolled oats, often weighing as much as 6 tons.

This model was put into production before the 1914-18 war. It had a 32 h.p. four-cylindered engine, with ball-bearing crankshaft. An outstanding feature was the famous Linley gearbox with preselective change-speed lever under the steering wheel. The RC model finally went out of production as late as 1928.

This grand old relic was discovered by Mr. P. I. Sands, general sales manager of the new Rootes Group plant at -Fisherman's Bend, Melbourne, Australia, on a recent visit to Gibson's, Ltd. Mr. Sands says that the vehicle has been licensed for another year's hard work.
