A N interesting little social event took 1place recently, when sotne eight chief engineers of the larger passengertransport undertakings in South Wales arranged an excursion to Cheddar with their wives and families. A total. of 30 assembled in Cardiff and went by steamer to Weston-super-Mare. where they were met by the chief engineer of the Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co., Ltd., complete with a particularly wellgroomed Bristol coach. After lunch, as guests of the Bristol concern, the party drove to Cheddar, and later returned to Weston to board the steamer for home.

A vote wits passed to make this "get together" an annual event. The same engineers meet informally at intervals throughout the year, and although " shop" is officially barred, no doubt some problems are solved as a result of friendly co-operation.
