Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

the trend towards combining body with chassis into the trailer manufacturing field, has just been introduced by

R. A. Dyson and Co., Ltd.. of Liver

pool. The machine is of attractive appearance, the body side-rails and frame being combined in one deep pressing. This feature should greatly minimize the danger or -side-rail breakages or distortions that frequently occur as a result of carrying barrels or cases of awkward shape. In view of the robust construction, it would appear capable of standing up to very heavy usage.

Of further importance is the fact that it is among the first vehicles specially designed to take advantage of the new regulation No. 63 of the S.R. and 0., 1947, No. 670, which permits greater tyre loads on slow-speed trailers, and so has widened the designer's scope. The machine in question is a dock or general purpose trailer, which has a rated capacity of 20 tons, but, when used at 10 m.p.h. under the authorization of special types, can be loaded up to 25 tons.

A platform measuring 22 ft. by 7 ft. 6 ins, is provided, and, because of the special chassis-cum-body construction, the height from ground to platform level is only 3 ft. 8i ins, when laden, an unusual feature for a unit of this description. There are four wheels in line at the front and two tandem axles ai the rear. giving a total of 12 36-in. by 8-in. tyres. In accordance with the new regulations, power-operated brakes are fitted, in this case taking the form of the Clayton No. 3 safety brake. Braking is on the Girling system, and the Dyson three-leg safety drawbar is, of course, employed.
