Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Well t finally happened—the British finally did it, stuck together that is.

After much letter writing, lobbying of MPs, and Transport Forum meetings it was plain to see that nobody was being listened to. Furthermore the agricultural and transport industries of Great Britain were, and still are, being driven into the ground, It was time to make a stand once and for all, and it seemed that 90% of the country was in full support.

On the radio there were comments from Kent haulier Ron Wood and then the FTA's Geoff Dosseter. Now it would seem that after the past couple of years of concern over the UK fuel prices these two men would share the same point of view, but alas no, not true.

I was pleased to hear Mr Wood give a fair, clear and calm explanation to the listening public as to why such direct action was now the only thing left to do for Britain's hauliers, farmers and producers, and indeed the general public.

I was then dismayed to hear Geoff Dosseter say that he "did not support the action being taken by the hauliers and farmers" and furthermore he hoped "that FTA members themselves would not become involved in any such action".

The men who made a stand against this unfair tax level on fuel need support, not condemnation, especially from a body that at the end of the day claims to support their own industry.

From someone who has spent his entire working life in agriculture and then in road transport I congratulate all the people who acted last week in peaceful protest—protests that were unfortunate but necessary. Well done all.

In past times the FTA has represented us well and has done a fine job. At this difficult time, why the change?
