A NEW national clerk of the course for the CM Lorry Driver of the Year competition has been elected. He is Mr A. G. (Gordon) Asbury, of the Road Transport Industry Training Board. He replaces Mr A. E. (Ted) Teer, of Schweppes, who retired at last week's agm of the competition— though he will remain actively associated with the contest.

Paying tribute to Ted Teer's service to the competition over many years, the vice-president of the CMLDoY Association, Mr Gerry Aston, presented him with an inscribed silver salver donated by his many friends involved in the competition.

The agm heard from the chairman that entries in 1975 were slightly up on the previous year—there were well over 3,000 in all—and that 20 of the 40 active centres had entries up by at least 20 per cent.

On a vote, it was decided to increase the entry fee from £6 to £8 for 1976.

There was a vote of thanks to Mr C. John French, sponsor's representative on the council, who will be retiring from this position before next year's agm. He is publishing director of CM, which sponsors the competition. His place on the council will be taken by CM editor Brian Cottee.

The senior officers of the LDoY Association were reelected unopposed : Sir Daniel Pettit as president, Mr G. W. Aston as vice-president and Mr A. E. Sherlock Mesher as deputy president. Re-elected council members are Ur A. S. Pedley, Mr A. Leadbetter, Mr R. S. Boyce and Mr J. W. Scammell. New council members elected are Col E. A. Beake and Mr D. E. Teer.
