• A sentence of 30 days' imprisonment was recently imposed by Harlow magistrates on a haulier because he was unable to pay fines and costs totalling £142.
Mr. J. A, Snowden, of Harlow, Essex, was fined El5 for unauthorized use, £10 for using a vehicle without a plating and testing certificate, and £80 for 16 offences of aiding and abetting Mr. J. R. Cleal and Mr. B. G. Martin in using a vehicle in breach of Contract A licence conditions.
Mr. Cleal and Mr. Martin were each fined £88. with E22 costs, on 22 offences of using a vehicle in breach of Contract A licence conditions by Harlow magistrates in July.
