A STANDARD for safer coach seats which would reduce the effects of the impact when passengers were thrown forward against them in an accident is being prepared by Dr John Gilbert, the Minister of Transport.
Announcing this in the Corn mons, the Minister added that seat belts might be needed for passengers in unprotected positions, and for the driver. He would consult interested organisations as soon as his proposals were ready, which might not be for some time yet.
