Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DECISION was reserved by the South Eastern and Western Traffic Commissioners after an all-day joint sitting at Bournemouth last week, at which applications by Hants and Dorset Motor Services Ltd. and Wilts and Dorset Motor Services Ltd. were heard.

The companies were asking for the addition of ld. on single fares up to Is., 2d. on single fares between Is. and 2s., and by 3d. increments on fares of 2s. and over. Return, weekly and season rates would be increased in proportion.

Twelve local authorities objected to the Hants and Dorset hid and two, including Salisbury City Council, to Wilts and Dorset's.

Maj. Gen. A. F. J. Elmslie, South Eastern chairman, said the applications would be granted when they received letters from the two companies stating that the recommended pay increases for. platform and maintenance staffs would be met.
