Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Renault dealer J DS Trucks is in the midst of a major expansion programme. It has acquired Renaultowned dealership Renault Trucks Leeds, and is also opening a new site in Oldham with a large used trucks display area.

"The Leeds acquisition is a natural match for us, and fits our business like a glove." enthuses J DS MD Wayne Edwards. It also gives /DS greater economies of scale, he points out. "That's what truck dealers will need to survive," he contends. IDS is retaining the Renault Trucks Leeds premises in Morley, which now trades as IDS Leeds. The 1.5-acre site includes a 0-bay workshop, open 24 hours a day, and new and used sales facilities.

Just off Junction 21 on the M 6o, the 1.5-acre Oldham depot will embrace a five-bay workshop, and should open on 2 April.

IDS also has branches in Salford and Blackburn.

At present tractors account for 8o% of J DS's secondhand sales.

"We hope to move nearer to a 50/5 tractor/rigid split, however, as use Midlums start to come back off col tract over the next 12 months Edwards says.

j DS sold just over 820 ne trucks in 2001, but Edwarc expects this to fall to nearer 6o this year. "Last year's figure was s high because we won a major cm tract," he points out.

It should sell over 150 used trucl, this year, he believes, rising to 250 i 2003 when Oldham is in fidl swinj
