Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Edinburgh-based truck dealer SMT will take over the Iveco Ford franchise on May 1, after more than 50 years as a Bedford dealer.

SMT, which once reached sales of 1,500 Bedford trucks a year in Edinburgh, is taking over the IF'T franchise in the city following the withdraw! of Alexanders of Edinburgh from the truck market.

Managing director Bill Dryden says the Edinburgh depot will continue to offer parts and service for Bedford trucks. He has high hopes that the dealership will build on its 1986 turnover of 27 million, through continued Bedford parts and service work, parts and service work for Iveco Ford, and sales of the Iveco Ford Truck range.

Dryden reports the company's modern Si million Edinburgh dealership is down to its last half dozen Bedford trucks, even though the company bought as many as it could from other dealers. He expects a slight sales lull between now and May 1, but is confident that most of his Bedford customers will follow SMT's lead and switch their allegiance to Iveco Ford.
