Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

An Unusual Application to the Traffic Commissioners for the North-Western Area AFEATURE ATURE of the sitting, at Wrexham, of the Traffic Commissioners for the North-Western Area was an application for permission to operate a bus to travel on the road and railway. It was made by the Crosville Motor Services, Ltd., and it was stated that the vehicle would probably run from Chester to Bodfari by rail, after that taking to the road. It is likely that the Ro-Railer would be operated on excursions to the Snowdon district

The vehicle was not ready at the time of the inquiry, and, of course, it will have to be inspected before the application is granted. The application was deferred.

Opposition to an application by the Western Transport Co., Ltd., was lodged by Mr. F. W. Strange, a rival operator, who was already running buses on the route proposed to be covered by the Western Transport concern. The objection was on the ground that passengers were picked up by the through services, whilst Wrexham Corporation opposed the application because of certain fares.

For the Western Transport Co., Ltd., it was contended that some of the smaller operators ran irregular services, having no time-tables, whereupon Mr. Strange's representative produced time

tables. These were, however, alleged by the manager of the Western Transport Co., Ltd., to have been manufactured for the occasion, to which remark great exception was taken.

It was suggested that the Western company should revise its fares in relation to mileage.

Later on the chairman of the Traffic Commissioners said it was desirable that fares and stages should have some bearing upon mileage, and next year the Commissioners would enforce this throughout their area. He remarked that there would have to be some alteration in the practice of making up losses on the unremunerative parts of routes by charging higher fares on the more popular sections.
