Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

There's no better exemplar of the French manufacturer's heavy truck identity than the Magnum. Renault's heavy truck DNA has run through it for 19 years. Yet with Volvo, Renault and Mack increasingly sharing 'engineering platforms', can Renault keep its own heavy truck identity?

"We're working on the next generation Euro-6 product for 2012 and 2013. Those new models will retain our own brand identity, like Volvo will retain its own brand identity as well says Farman.

Where does that leave Magnum? "A new range of models will be launched with Euro-6, and Magnum will be replaced by it. It will cover the whole range we have today."

Will Volvo and Renault eventually share a common cab core, but with unique exterior panelling and styling? "They will share some components, but it's too early to say exactly which ones. We'll retain our design, our brand identity, and our specifications for the customers."

But will it be another Magnum? "The target is to keep a flat floor cab 41 the future, but the priority today is to invest in the new driveline that will be compliant with the Euro-6 regulations."

The bottom fine is you have three years left to buy one of the most iconic trucks of the past 20 years and its successor will share group components, but with Renault's own engineering input.
