FREIGHTLINERS Ltd had record year in 1976. ( Bleasdale, managing directo revealed last week that sut cesses of the year included record trading profit (prc visional) of £1.3 million — a improvement of £2.3 milli() over the results of the previou year.

Reviewing the company progress during 1976 h reported that a new marketin organisation introducing th product management concept, was now bringing in results and should do much to enhance the company's future performance.
"Profits and performance are our promises for 1977, and that ought to please any government and not least Mr Rodgers," said Mr Bleasdale.
He looked back on 1976 as something of a rescue operation; and a highly successful one. Volume went up 14 per cent and traffic revenue improved by 25 per cent. This amounted to a profit improvement of over E2 million in trading terms, against the loss of El million in 1975.
Fifty per cent of the containers passed on Freightliner trains were delivered or collected by the company into its terminals.
