Details of a Particularly Well-finished Coach Supplied to a Bishop Auckland Operator.

AN accompanying illustration shows a particularly smart A.J.S. coach which has recently been sold by Motor Supplies, Ltd., of Bishop Auckland, to Mr. J. E. Smith, also of that town, who operates Favourite Coaches. The appearance of the vehicle is outstanding, for apart from its pleasing exterior lines and colouring the interior appointments are most up to date.

The body was built by Duple Bodies • and Motors. Ltd., of The Hyde, Hendon, London, N.W.9, and is but another example of this concern's good craftsmanship. It is equipped with 20 seats of a luxurious type, these being upholstered in a special blue and grey moquette having a floral design. The sliding head, which operates between the luggage compartment at the rear and the front canopy, is of the Sun saloon mechanical type and, as will be seen, it gives an extensive opening reaching well down at the front. The Rawlings windows have glass louvres above them.

The interior equipment includes parcels racks, pendent lamps, electric bell, window curtains, floor mats, rug rails, ashtrays, electric screenwiper and many other refinements.

Luggage is carried on an extension of the rear dome, access to the roof being by flush-fitting folding steps. Additional luggage can be carried in lockers which are provided in the body valance at each side, whilst there is another locker beneath the rearmost seat. Ventilation is cared for by two Airvac devices which are fitted at the rear. Bright metal exterior fittings are all chromium plated, the interior fittings being finished in oxidized silver. The body is painted in a pleasing twocolour scheme of ivory white and fawn with black mouldings.
