A Summary of an Informative Paper Read by Mr. 0. C. Power, Traffic Manager of This Prominent Passenger-carrying Concern.

ONE day last week Mr. 0. C. Power, 31.Inst.T., traffic manager of the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co.. Ltd., managingdireetor of the Potteries Traction Co„ Ltd. director of the Trent Motor Traction do., chairman of the Midland Section of the Institute of Transport, etc., spoke at a luncheon of the Worcester Rotary Club, 011 the subject of road transport.

• Dealing with the growth of the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co.. Ltd., Mr. Power said that, prior to 1899, the bus services in Birmingham -were in the hands of numerous small

proprietors, who made two attempts to form themselves into a company. In 1899 the second concern, the Birmingham General Omnibus Co., found itself in the lands of the receiver and, in consequence, the British Electric Traction Co. (which had recently gained controlling interest in the Black Country tramways, and owned the. tramways at Kidderminster, Worcester, Leamington and the Potteries, later on acquiring all the Birmingham city tramways and buses) purchased the assets from the receiver. On September 27th, 1899, Mr. Power' company took over the business.
