By: Kevin SwalLow IN THE SPACE of a year, new arrival Simon Bailey has gone from sales executive to sales manager at East Midlands Renault Trucks dealership RH Commercial Vehicles (RHCV).

He is the company's first sales executive after the dealership was sold by global logistics giant Kuehne + Nagel (K+N).

Bailey has more than 30 years' experience in transport and logistics: his career started as an apprentice motor mechanic and in breakdown and recovery, before he worked as a UK and international truck driver.

More recently, he was assistant transport manager at the RH Freight hub in West Thurrock. His latest role is to support new and existing clients across RHCV's expanding client base in the northern and eastern Nottinghamshire areas.

RHCV director Paul Pearson said Bailey's unique experience in the vehicle industry was invaluable. "He has worked in every area of CVs from service and repair to sales and customer liaison. He has exceptional insight and understands the challenges that face our customers," he said.

Last year, K+N sold RHCV for an undisclosed sum to its incumbent MID Nigel Baxter, Paul Pearson, as well as Neville and Peter Baxter (CM 5 April 2012). K+N bought parent company The RH Group for £66.9m 12 months earlier.

RHCV operates from Leicester and its head office at Nottingham.

• Next week, CM has an exdusive interview with Nigel Baxter on how RHCV has coped in its first year following the deal.
