The absolute necessity of carefully preparing a case for a licence renewal was stressed by Mr. A. J. Soper, deputy clerk to the North-Western Licensing Authority, when he addressed a meeting of the C.M.U.A. at Burnley last week. It was likely, he said, that the railways would object to nearly. all AAicence renewals, and the experience of'B-licensees showed that 80 per cent. of the applications were. the subject of -railway_ objection..
