A gang of robbers held a Londis delivery driver at knifepoint before stealing more than 24,000 worth of cigarettes in the West Midlands.

The 38-year-old driver from Barnsley was unloading his van at around 6.40am in Dogkennel Lane in Oldbury last Wednesday (20 August), when a blue Rover (registration KNO2 XZR) pulled up and three men got out. One man threatened the driver with a knife, while the others unloaded the cigarettes Into the car, before driving off towards Smethwick.

A police spokeswoman says: "The man with the knife is described as white, aged 20, 5ft Bin-5ft Tin tall with short brown hair. He wore a bandana round his face and was wearing a grey baggy sweatshirt and dirty blue jeans. "The second man was also 5ft 61n-5ft Tin tall, slim and was wearing a baseball cap, a bandana, a baggy blue sweatshirt and baggy blue jeans. The third was 6ft tall and also wearing a bandana."

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, seen the vehicles or with information about the load to some forward.
