Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• by Emma Penny Sussex police are appealing for information and offering a reward of £10,000 after a haulier was killed in a drive-by shooting last week.

Dale Harvey, who owned Synchro Logistics based near Wadhurst, was driving to work on Monday 18 August when a motorcycle approached his car as he waited in traffic. The pillion rider produced a small shotgun and shot Harvey as he sat in the driver's seat.

Harvey suffered three gunshot wounds, including one to the head, and later died from the head injury.

A police statement says: "This has all the marks of a contract killing. The attack was clearly carefully planned. It was clearly a deliberate, planned and calculated killing.

"Those responsible for the actual attack showed arrogance and ruthlessness and their manner suggested they even enjoyed it."

Police say Harvey, 44, had worked in a number of haulage and courier businesses over the last few years. Last year, he ran TK Couriers from the Poplars Business Yard near Sevenoaks in Kent, and recently returned to Sussex to set up Synchro Logistics.

DCI Reg Hooke adds: "We know that he had been charged and bailed in January this year for an offence of drugs importation together with two others. This involved the importation of 20kg of cocaine worth £0.5m. The trial of the co-defendants is scheduled for December at Canterbury Crown Court. He has, however, no other previous criminal convictions and appears to be a man of general good character.

"We don't know who would want to kill him, why someone would want to kill him and who they got to do it.

"Our appeal is for anybody with information to call us in confidence with the answers to these questions—who wanted him dead, why, and who did it?"

Police have recovered the green Kawasaki 750 used in the incident, which had been stolen from Islington in June, and was carrying a false plate.
