The corporation increased its total business and improved its trading profit in 1977. The year was described by Sir Dan as, "an encouraging year for NFC against the trend."
Of the six trading groups within the NEC two made net profits, BRS made £2m against £2.2m last year and Special Traffics made £0.1m against a £0.2m loss in 1976.
