OPERATORS of top weight Saviem tractive units are now being offered the choice of either floor or column mounted gear changes as standard equipment on the 36-280 and 38-280 models.
' The new gear lever is mounted on the engine cover. A telescopic linkage to the ZF gearbox allows the lever to remain in position when the cab is tilted. The splitter switch is located on the front of the lever.
The header tank has been repositioned behind the cab on the nearside — it was previously located beneath the cab floor.
An air-assisted hydraulic clutch has replaced the spring-assisted unit previously fitted to both models.
