• MAN-VW will be launching its own fleet management computer software in the UK at next month's Birmingham Motor Show. Although few details have been released, CM understands that the software package has been specifically tailored for small micro or personal computers and will be offered with full training and consultancy back-up.
The system can be used on a fleet or depot basis and is designed to handle a variety of data including vehicles and trailers, loads and mileages as well as routing and driver details. A workshop management package will also be added at a later date.
In West Germany, where the MAN-VW system is one of the leading computer management packages in the country, users are said to be recouping their investment within a year of initial purchase while in some cases it is within three months.
BRS Truck Rental has ordered 95 MAN and VW trucks and vans for delivery this autumn in an order worth nearly .22 million. The order covers MAN tractive units and rigjds as well as VW Li' vans and chassis cabs.
