DAF DIESEL (GB) is to market its DK1160 engine in Britain as an alternative power unit for double decker buses.
The unit, rated at 180 bhp, is similar to the Gardner 6LXB and Rolls-Royce Eagle currently offered in Dennis Dominators and MCW Metrobuses.
A DAF unit has already been installed in a Dominator, and similar units are being used to replace Leyland engines in 100 Coras lompair Eireann Leyland Atlanteans.
