AN INSURANCE scheme covering the cost of unscheduled replacement of power-train components had been introduced by DAF Trucks.
Effective after the first year, when the manufacturers warranty has expired, the system relies on the operator making one single payment.
He is then covered for the power-train components for 12 months or until the vehicle has covered 300,000 miles.
If a component should fail, the operator contacts the nearest authorised DAF Trucks dealer — through DAF-aid if required — to arrange repairs.
' DAF says the scheme can be arranged at any time during the first year of the vehicle's life and for a further payment, an extra 12 months protection may also be gained.
The cost of the scheme after warranty expires is two per cent of original retail price, while the second year costs three per cent of the original price.
