Villagers Ask to Use Express Service

THE express service between Glasgow and Campbeitown, operated by David NacBrayne; Ltd., could solve a transport problem for eight villages, the Scottish Traffic Commissioners were told last week. Ntore than 200 villagers on the west coast of Kintyre had petitioned Argyll County. Council, asking that on the last 38 miles of the route— between Tarbert and Carnpbeltowncoaches should be allowed to pick up and set down .passengers.
A county council representative, who made these submissions, said MaeBrayne's were reluctant to change the present express service on which only long-distance passengers could be set down. But the afternoon vehicle from Glasgow, which arrived in Tarbert at 7.35 p.m and reached Carnpbeltown at 9 p.m., could fill a need for many people in the area MacBrayne's were granted renewal of their present licence without modification, but Mr. F. Quin, chairman, said an application could be made later for the conditions to be varied. He advised the councils to bring evidence to support the application at that time.
