IN an effort to combat the decline in

passenger traffic, the Yorkshire Woollen District Transport Co., Ltd., are putting into service vehicles with larger seating capacities. Since 1955 the company have bought 12 new Fanfare 39-seat coaches. Twelve 44-seat semiluxury coaches for express services, tours and private hire are also on order.

Before the end of the year, 10 double-deckers to seat 70 passengers will be put into service, replacing the 56-seaters now being operated. Three sirnilar vehicles' are expected to be delivered in 1958.

" We regard the present decline in passenger traffic as very serious," Mr. George W. Battensby, the company's general manager, told The Commercial Motor. Replacement of vehicles was one of the ways in which they proposed to meet the situation.
