Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

M contacted ERF about Mr owe/I's complaint and we have ceived the following reply.

ver the past few months, gear wers have certainly been diffiIt to obtain from our suppliers, J t a small stock was aintained at Middlewich to eet VOR demand, but no such !mend has been recorded on half of A. & C. Nowell Ltd.

On the subject of the powersteering parts, this was a threecomponent requirement for the power-steering drive of his eight-wheeler machine. Unfortunately the vehicle concerned was taken into our Brighouse distributor on Friday evening of September 29, but the order for materials was not received by ERF until Monday morning October 2.

One of the components was available ex stock, and the second requirement was obtained from a distributor in our network within 48 hours, but unfortunately we were out of stock of the third unit required and it was found necessary to carry out a repair on the original bracket to get the vehicle on the road. The whole operation took some seven days (five actual working days) which is far in excess of what the repair period should have taken.

Unfortunately, it is not always possible to supply everything everyone requires all of the time, but on VOR components we do achieve 93 per cent availability. We at ERF try very hard and where we can perform the impossible, we do, but sometimes we fail.

We only hope we do not fail this customer again E. D. GREEN, Deputy Managing Director, ERF Ltd, Sandbach, Cheshire
