SCOTTISH lorry drivers and road hauliers are meeting again today to discuss their claim for a wage rise well in excess of the Government's five per cent guidelines.
This follows the refusal of an offer of five per cent which was put to Transport and General Workers Union representatives by Road Haulage Association members this week.
Neither the RHA nor TGWU was prepared to discuss the matter when CM contacted them this week, but it appears likely that a more substantial offer may be discussed today.
TGWU area secretary Peter Talbot did say earlier that he was dissatisfied with the seriousness of RHA in discussing an alternative offer, and he has not ruled out the possibility of industrial action to back this up.
