• New ERF cab has full safety features

ERF has updated the interior of the SP cab introduced on its B-Series in 1974 to provide improved driver safety.

This was the first British cab to meet the requirements of the ECE safety tests and comply in full with the British regulations for crush and frontal impact.

The interior trim in the facia area includes a foam moulding material while the lid of the large locking glove box doubles as a table top in front of the passenger seat.

Redesigned steps and grab handles assist on entry and new handles have been included on the doors, which now have fixed quarter lights to reduce wind noise. Insulation in the roof area and above the engine has been improved to reduce the level of in-cab noise. Both the sleeper and day cab models are totally constructed from sheet moulding compound (SMC) glass fibre panels attached to a welded steel frame. SMC is said to be unaffected by most corrosive chemicals and will not rust. The steel frame is treated with rust inhibitors.
