LEGGETT Freightways Con tracts' contract hire service fo Woolworth's 1,000 stores ha begun with Elm worth of nev equipment.
Leggett, which won part c the Woolworth's contrac from National Carriers, ha taken 54 Crane Fruehauf 12r dry freight semi-trailers, 1 CF/Boalloy 10m Tautliner: and 25 Seddon Atkinson 40 tractive units with Gardne 8LXB diesels.
Leggett envisages that system will be fully operatic nal by 1980, by which tin. 130,000 tons of freight will b handled annually. Woolwort is confident that suppliers-t( stores transit time will b halved.
