Gerry Flanagan will move from the Department of the Environment to the National Freight Corporation on November 1, where he will succeed Peter Land as director of corporate planning.

Mr Flanagan will be responsible for corporate and resource planning procedures and policies within the NFC. Prikor to joining the DoE, he was involved in the freight in dustry as head of freight central division'at the Department of Transport.

Che RAC's restructuring 3gramme has resulted in Eric Charles's appointment as chief executive of its associate section. Mr Charles has worked for the RAC for more than 40 years. In 1966 he joined the services division in London, from where he will move to his new position next June.

Patrick Elliott will succeed Ian McGillivray as London Transport's chief estate manager in the new year, when Mr McGillivray will retire.

Mr Elliott will manage and develop all LT property. He joins the company from Messrs Cluttons, chartered surveyors, where he was a senior partner. Warehouse foreman, Alex Gray, is only the third Goodyear Tyre 8e Rubber Company employee to complete 50 years' service. Dr Brook was managing director of CV (Sales and Repairs) Ltd from 1974 until his death on October 7.

Mr Blundell was chairman of the Blundell Holiday Group which he founded as Blundell's in Southport. He died aged 55 after a short illness.
