Contract A and C Licence Switches from All Areas
CONTRACT A and C licence switches are prevalent in all areas. One of the largekt of these is an application, published inthe Western Applications and Decisions, by Glover and UgIow, Ltd., of Callington, Cornwall, who wish to vary a B licence by the addition of 12 tippers. The vehicles are at present specified in C licences in the name of English China Clays, Ltd., and the conditions sought are "General goods for English China Clays, Ltd., and subsidiary companies." A short-term licence has been granted to these applicants, pending the outcome of the hearing of the application.
Another C switch in this area comes from W. L. and L. T. Jeffrey and T. W. Power, of Crewkerne, Somerset. Described as scrap metal dealers, they seek a new B licence for two vehicles, one of which ' is operating under a C licence.
A substantial B licence variation appears in the Metropolitan area publication. W. C. Wootten and Sons (Poplar), Ltd.; apply to add 11 vehicles (five artics) and a draw-bar trailer to carry goods for Montague L. Meyer, Ltd., and its associated and subsidiary companies " any distance." There follows, in the application as published, a list of the associated and subsidiary companies concerned and an undertaking that, if granted, the
Contract A licence that the applicants hold with Montague Meyer's "will not be the subject of further applications."
Woodcock's Transport (Scotland), Ltd., of Glasgow, apply for a new A licence in the Scottish (Southern) area for five vehicles of 31 tons unladen weight. If fir application is granted, the same vehicles will be removed from a licence held by Woodcock's in the North Western area.
In the Northern Division of the Scottish area, Road Services (Forth), Ltd., ask to vary an A licence by the addition of four vehicles which they plan to acquire.
Contract A switches from other areas include, in the East Midland area, applications from J. Brindley of Sharnford, near Hinckley (they apply for six A vehicles, three of which are on Contract A); and Philip William Smith (Haulage) 1947, Ltd., of Nottingham (they want 18 vehicles and an artic, and undertake to give up Contract A licences if this is granted).
In the North West, J. L. .Ingham, un Preston, ask for four vehicles which are flaw on Contract A. whilst, from South. Wales comes an application to switch two tippers by Williams Brothers (Cross
Hands), Ltd., of Llanelly. •
