Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

'conventional' service

By David Harris CONTAINERLIFT, THE specialist sideliner container haulier, is promoting its more conventional container haulage in an effort to keep business levels up in tough economic times.

The company has operated ordinary container trailers alongside its sidelifters for several years, but admits business is hard because shipping lines are so quiet.

Joust Baker, Con tainerlift's managing director, says: "We actually have about 50 or 60 standard container trailers against 20 specialist sidelifters."

Baker says the sideliner business is "solid", but that there is pressure on the conventional business because the shipping lines are carrying less.

He adds: Some of them have reached the stage where they are talking about putting ships into dry dock until things start to improve."

Containerlift has sent a letter out to all its customers explaining that the firm does conventional as well as sidelining container haulage.

But Baker says there are no fears for the future of the firm. lie adds: -The beauty about the transport industry is that whatever the downturn, people have still got to clothe and Iced themselves. There's no doubt that we'll get through the downturn,"
