The Rt. Hon. The Earl of Rothes has been elected deputy chairman of The British Electric Traction Co. Ltd. Lord Roches has been a director of the company since 1947.

Maurice Hodgson has been appointed North Western area sales representative for US Industries Inc. Engineering Ltd., of Welwyn Garden City. Mr. Hodgson was formerly with ICT Field Engineering and the Swain Group.

S. J. B. Skyrme has been appointed a director of The Yorkshire Traction Co. Ltd. and becomes chairman in succession to Raymond W. Birch, who has resigned from the hoard because of pressure of other business commitments. John T. Riley, joint managing director of The Moss Gear Co. Ltd., Birmingham, has been appointed chairman of the British Gear Man ufact urers Association. He was previously a director of David Brown Industries Ltd., Huddersfield, where he was employed for 41 years.

S. J. Barnes has been appointed deputy chairman of Clayton Dewandre Holdings Ltd., parent company of the Clayton Dewandre Group. He will remain managing director of the Holdings board and also chairman of six of the group's subsidiaries. J. W. Kinshin, managing director of Clayton Dewandre Co. Ltd., has been co-opted to the board of Clayton Dewandre Holdings Ltd., and C. G. H. Richardson has retired from the board after 17 years' service because of age.

George C. K. Pinnell, district manager of Dunlop Rubber Co. Ltd. for Northern Ireland, has retired through ill health after 38 years with the company. His successor is N. J. Edgar, previously deputy district manager at Glasgow. Mr, Edgar joined Dunlop in 1934 and after being a salesman for several years became manager, commercial vehicle tyre sales (Scotland) in 1961 and deputy manager at Glasgow in 1963.

The Minister of Transport has appointed R. H. Bubbear as a member of the new Transport Users' Consultative Committee for the South Western area until March, 1969. Mr. Bubbear is deputy general manager of the. Port of Bristol Authority.

E. Whitton, present chairman of the Humber side section of the Institute of Transport, is to succeed R. A. Gale as the Institute's representative on the University of Hull Court for the three years from October 1 next.

Keith S. Bolton has been appointed publicity officer for the Tarmac Group, based at Ettingshall, Wolverhampton.

Dr. H. Simon (Evode Ltd.) has been elected chairman of the British Rubber and Resin Adhesive Manufacturers' Association for 1966-7, with H. J. 0. Head (Bostik Ltd.) as vicechairman.

C. Askew has been appointed manager of the Cheetham branch, Manchester, of British Road Services Ltd. He was formerly operating superintendent at the Manchester Greenheys branch. A. Jones, formerly manager of the Runcorn branch, is now traffic assistant, North Western district office.

Robin Hill has been appointed wholesale marketing manager of Daf Concessionaires Ltd., of London. Prior to joining Daf. he was with the Astral Marketing Group as account executive dealing with Chrysler International.

N. J. Kevan has been appointed traffic manager of BRS Parcels Ltd. He was formerly operations officer of the company.

John F. Bailey has been appointed sales manager of the York Trailer Co. Ltd. Mr. Bailey, who joined Vauxhall Motors Ltd. as a graduate trainee, became Midlands area sales manager of Chrysler-Dodge in 1960. Three years later he joined J. C. Bamford Ltd. as sales supervisor in the London and South-east area.

Frank Thompson has been appointed marketing manager of Wolf Electric Tools Ltd.

OBITUARY We regret to record the deaths of Mr. A. C. Elphick and Mr. J. Pearson.

Mr. Elphick. 66, was general manager of West Bridgford (Notts) transport department until last year and he worked for the department for some 30 years. He was a former chairman of the East Midland branch of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers.

Mr. Pearson, 98, was a garage proprietor in Heckmondwike for many years and was a pastpresident of Spen Valley Chamber of Commerce.
