Yet another addition to the northcountry's list of long-distance bus services was made on 'Wednesday ,of last week when Messrs. Ridley, of Haltwhistle, commenced a daily service from Newcastle to Keswick, via Alston and Penrith. At the outset one journey is being made in each direction, the vehicles leaving the .terminal points at 9 a.m. The service should prove extremely popular in the summer months, as large numbers of people visit the Lake District from the Newcastle

neighbourhood. One of the vehicles used on the new route is a handsome Leyland Lioness 26-seater, which was on view at Olympia, and other machines are W. and G.s. The single fare is 10s. 6d. and the return fare 17s. 6d. for the through journey.

A Change of Title.

It is announced that the title of the Connaught Coach Works and PaImers, Ltd., is being changed to Palmers (Dover), Ltd., and the change will be confirmed at a meeting of the company to be held at 228, London Road, Dover, on March 28th. We understand that the business will be Carried on as heretofore and the position of the local officials will be unchanged. , Restriction of Bus Licences.

Having agreed to the founding of a new bus service in its area by Messrs. Ralph's . Garages, Abertillery, the Panteg (Mon.) Council has been informed that the number of bus journeys made daily over its roads is 750, and the aggregate weight of passenger vehicles is 3,600 tons per day. In consequence of this information it has been decided to restrict the future issue of bus licences.
