by Derren Hayes • UK hauliers travelling to France are being warned that they could become victims of French farmers anger over British beef following attacks at the weekend.

Grimsby-based reefer operator Moody International had a load of British lamb worth around £10,000 hijacked and destroyed. Moody's vehicle was stopped by farmers a mile outside Nantes on the west coast of France. They held it for more than six hours before the lamb was thrown on the road and crushed by tractors.

Managing director Mick Moody says: "Our driver couldn't do anything—he was surrounded by French farmers at a set of traffic lights who put a banner over the side of the vehicle with the words `French Barbecue' on it." result of the F3SE crisis.

El Northern Ireland haulier Sam Smith Transport also had his tyres and part of his load of French yoghurt damaged at Cherbourg on Friday. The only help offered to his driver came from two French truckers who helped him fix his tyres after the mob had dispersed.
