Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The new Freedom 20 Combi battery charger and inverter from Merlin Equipment converts 12 or 24V DC battery power to 230V AC mains electricity, allowing vehicle operators to run mains-powered equipment without the need for a generator or mains power.

While in inverter mode the Freedom 20 provides up to 2,000 watts of power. But when the vehicle is plugged into mains power or a generator is turned on. the unit automatically switches into battery charger mode.

It produces up to 100 amps of DC power and has a three-stage "smart charge" function. Charging rates are varied automatically to maintain battery condition without electrolyte loss.

The unit, which costs about £1,000 (ex-VAT) has trip switches on the inverter, charger and control circuitry and overload and overheating protection. It is UL and CE approved, housed in a rugged casing and supplied with two metres of heavy-duty cabling.
