• IIGV and PSV headlamps' beam aim is to be tested annually from 1 October — although test stations will apply the new regulations from 1 August on an advisory basis.
The test will identify whether headlamps are set too high, low, far right or far left. A Transport and Road Research Laboratory survey showed that 9096 of vehicles tested in 1989 failed lighting tests.
