BEDFORD is set to make a further 360 workers redundant at its Dunstable lorry plant. They will consist of volunteers who applied for redundancy under the company's earlier job cutting programme, but were not accepted.

The market is not showing signs of a recovery, says Bedford, and the proposed redundancies are related to production schedules.

If all of the 360 jobs go, the company will have reduced its workforce by almost 22 per cent since January. But the cuts will not end the present short-time working programme at Dunstable.
