JMIVIINS firmly believe that e recession has now botmed out and that the second ilf of 1981 will see a "modest vival of demand for heavy ity trucks".

Speaking at the launch of the 1250 (CM, June 20) UK field )erations manager Roger rilsdon said that Cummins are recasting that the four-axle rid market will grow from about 700 vehicles this year to 3,600 1984, higher than the 1979 ea k.

In the premium artic market bove 28 tons gross, it is exected that 1981 will see regis ations at 8,900 with the figures )r the first five months supportig this forecast.

However, the Cummins' )recast suggests that by 1984 agistrations will be back to 1979 .ivels with a rapid growth durng 1982/83 of over 25 per cent in year.

Turning to Cummins' indi'ideal performance during this eriod, Mr Wilsdon claimed that he company's penetration in he eight-wheeler market would ise from seven to 18 per cent in our years.

He suggested that in the 28on plus artic market, Cummins )enetration will increase margiially in 1981/82 and strongly in 1983/84 to reach 26 per cent Dverall — or more than 50 per ..:ent of UK chassis manufacturars' registrations.
