MOBIL OIL has become the firsi fleet operator in the UK tc switch to Perkins newest en, gine, the turbocharged TV8.640.
Twelve ERF 24-ton M-Serie: chassis have gone into service tc deliver automotive fuel; throughout the country.
Each of the six-wheelers i; capable of carrying up to 18,00( litres (4,000 gal) of petrol 01 16,800 litres (3,750 gal) of dery They are expected to average around 63,000km (40,000 miles a year for the next six years.
Equipped with aluminiu tanks incorporating six indi vidual compartments, the ERF can carry both petrol and dies at the same time.
The Perkins TV8.640 is rated 163kW (218bhp) at 2,200rpm f this particular application — its full rating it develops 190k (255bhp) at 2,600rpm.
