AN MP told the Commons that there seemed to be grave apprehension in the country at large about coach accidents, after a Government statement about the collision between a coach and an articulated lorry in Dumfriesshire.

Now could be a proper time to examine whether there should be a review of all the technical safety facilities used on such coaches, suggested Mr William Molloy (Labour, Ealing North).

But Mr William Ross, the Scottish Secretary, said they had to be careful not to jump to conclusions about the cause of the accident.

The question of safety of' coaches was a matter for the Transport Minister, but from all the facts known about this accident there did not seem to be any question peculiar to the safety of coaches.
