• Draft German plans for bracket rates to be applied for international road transport movements have been approved by the European Commission subject to clarification on three points: 11) the extent of the fines in the event of violation; (2) the designation of the authorities responsible for the surveys on prices applied within the bracket rates; (3) the implementing arrangements for the advertising of special contracts.
The bracket rate system should begin on September 1 but member states who should apply uniform provisions in this matter) have been slow to advise the Commission of national plans meeting the Community provisions. The German problem was simplified by the closeness with which its own tariffication procedures accorded with the system decided upon for the Community.
