• F. J. Lloyd, chief commercial and planning officer, London Transport Board, was appointed director-general of the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive last Friday. Mr. Lloyd was educated at Wallasey grammar school and at Ackworth school, Yorkshire, and obtained his B.Sc. at Liverpool University.

Mr. Lloyd joined London Transport in 1947, where he was responsible for pensions and staff statistics. In 1955 he transferred to the Central (red) Bus division and became assistant divisional superintendent, north east division, in 1956. He was promoted to divisional superintendent, south west division, in 1957 and transferred to the south division in 1960. In 1961 he was appointed operating manager, Central Buses, assuming his present position in 1965.
